Born in Gran Canaria, Jota moved to Madrid to study art and classic painting at the age of 18. During his student years, he started an apprenticeship in a local tattoo parlour, where a few years later, he began as a full-time tattooist. His motivation was fueled by the process of manifesting art and conveying feelings on the skin. He started reading tattoo magazines as a teenager, and that was the first reference he had. During his career, he has done many different tattoo styles but ended up selecting black and grey realism as his favourite, although he is still open to working with colours at the client’s request. He is passionate about dark style, warriors and Japanese. The portraits of film characters are among the projects he is aiming to work within the soon future.
