Hard to rate w/ star system bc I had 2 very different experiences. Most recently (Feb 2018) I got a tattoo from Nomi Chi: amazing tattoo, amazing experience, felt very safe and comfortable, they're an incredible artist and they really made an effort to make me comfortable + I'm so happy to have a permanent piece of their art. In Nov 2013 I had a deposit with the cheapest + only available artist (Shawzy): he was rude and unprofessional (my friend and I emailed over reference photos multiple times over this process, he had nothing prepared for our consultations, he didn't have our tattoos drawn for our appointments and admitted he would've drawn something up in advance but would've gotten it wrong so it's a good thing he "smoked too much pot" and didn't bother drawing in advance) and so I decided to not get tattooed by him, but stayed with my friend for hers bc he gave me the creeps. My friend was a young woman getting a very vulnerable area tattooed (in between her breasts). While he did make the effort to cover her breasts with taped paper towel, as soon as he began tattooing her he called over to the tattoo artist across the room and brings up an earlier customer, a woman who "moaned like she was getting fucked" while she got tattooed. This conversation went on between the 4 men (2 artists, a client and his friend) as Shawzy tattooed between my friend's breasts. We didn't say anything because we were young and he was actively inking very straight lines at the moment and didn't want anything to go wrong, but I wish we would've told him off about how fucking inappropriate and insensitive that was.
