Reviews 1/1

I went into Idle Hands Tattoo shop on 01/21/19 to have a tattoo on my left hand covered up. When I walked in I began a conversation with Jayare (pronounced J.R.) who would later identify himself as the owner. He told me he's been a tattoo artist for 15 years. I explained my situation to him. I told him I didn't have a lot of money to spend, stating that I didn't want to spend more than $100 to have the work done. He explained to me that the going rate was $160 an hour. However, if I was willing agree on a cover up design that he would draw up he would be willing to do it for a $100. After lots of conversation, I explained to him that instead of a design, I would rather cover the tattoo with three black boxes. He explained to me that he didn't want to do that and suggested that Andrew (another artist in the shop) might be willing to cover up the tattoo in the way that I wanted. I asked him if Andrew could tattoo the lines straight and put an equal amount of distance between the black boxes. Jayare replied to me and I quote "He wouldn't be working here if he couldn't." So I had a conversion with Andrew. I asked if he'd be willing to cover up the tattoo on my hand with three black boxes for $100 and he agreed. A few hours after I got the tattoo I was able to take a close look at it in some good lighting. That's when I realized how uneven the lines are and how much the black ink inside the boxes varied from light to dark as if the ink wasn't distributed evenly. To be fair Andrew did say that if I was unhappy with the tattoo for any reason that I should come back and he would fix it. However, I felt like the work was so poorly done that I could not allow Andrew to tattoo me a second time. On 01/29/19 when I went into Idle Hands Tattoo shop. I approached Jayare and Andrew and explained to them that I was extremely unhappy with the tattoo because the lines are uneven, not straight, the distance between the black boxes is not equal and the ink inside the boxes varies from light to dark. Andrew again responded that he would be willing to fix it. I proposed that I rather have Jayare fix it because he has 15 years of experience. I explained that I would of course have to look at his portfolio first because I wanted to verify that he could fix the tattoo properly. At that point the conversation became extremely tense. Both Jayare and Andrew began to raise their voices. Jayare stated that he would fix it for me if I wanted him to but I would have to full price pay for it. I replied that I didn't think that was fair. He asked me why not stating that Andrew is willing to fix it for free. I replied given the circumstances that I'd rather have him fix it provided I could verify his work via his portfolio. I stated that it was his responsibility to fix the tattoo because he was the owner of the shop. In addition, I reminded him that I had a conversation with him concerning whether or not Andrew could do the tattoo properly. I asked if he could tattoo the lines straight and put an equal amount of distance between black boxes. I reminded him that he replied to me and I quote "He wouldn't be working here if he couldn't." I said him Jayare I took you on your word that he could do the tattoo properly. He loudly responded and I quote "who am I." "You don't know me from anyone." I replied "you're the owner of the shop and you should make this right." He again stated that Andrew would fix it for free and that if I wanted him to fix it I'd have to pay full price for it. I said I don't think we're going to be able to come to an agreement. After further conversation Andrew reminded me that I signed a release form before I received my cover up tattoo. In the process signing away all my legal rights and that there was nothing I could do in a court of law. So I should just let him fix the tattoo. I responded "if you're going to threaten me there are other ways for me to let people know what happened here." Thinking I could post this review on Google. At that point Andrew walked away and I started to walk towards the front door to leave. Jayare again raised his voice and began an attempt to insult me. He said "you made a bad decision when you got that tattoo on your hand and then you made a bad decision when you came in here to get it covered up and let someone tattoo you without looking at anyone's portfolio." He said "what kind of a person gets tattoo without looking at a portfolio." He then began an attempt to threaten me by proceeding to tell me about all the responses he'd have for a review if I was to post one on Google. Jayare didn't present any reasonable solutions to fix the problem. Instead he raised his voice, became emotional, even defensive. Then he attempted to insult, threaten, and intimidate me. This is by far is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. In my opinion completely unprofessional lacking of compassion and understanding. Not to mention completely unethical.
